THE BOOK

During the pandemic, when travel was limited, my wife Mari Savio and I set out to reimagine adventure—not in distant landscapes, but in the spaces just outside our door. Piknik People is a book about seeing the world differently. It turns familiar surroundings into playgrounds for creativity, using visual storytelling to inspire small escapes, fresh perspectives, and spontaneous moments of joy.

The book blends rich, atmospheric photography and playful, graphic DIY instructions, guiding readers through miniature adventures in any season. From setting up a remote workspace in a scenic spot to gathering friends under blooming cherry trees, the imagery creates a sense of possibility. Each spread is designed to evoke curiosity and spark action, proving that adventure isn’t about distance—it’s about mindset.

With Piknik People, we wanted to create a visual world that feels both aspirational and accessible. Every image, layout, and illustrated instruction works together to invite the reader in—showing, not just telling, how even the most ordinary places can become something magical.
